Introduction

The following project will investigate the historic developments of the oldest temple in Tokyo, Sensoji Temple, which can be traced back to 628 A.D., and pay particular attention to the urbanisation of this iconic landmark and its surrounding area throughout the three major phrases of Tokyo’s history; Edo Period, Imperial/Modern Tokyo, and Global Tokyo.
